SUMMARY OF BUSAN FILM FESTIVAL

The Mongolian National Film Council of the Ministry of Culture organized the event “MONGOLIA FILM FESTIVAL” on March 8-10. The festival was supported by the Consulate of Mongolia in Busan, South Korea, the Hannarae Cultural Foundation of Korea, and the Busan Cinema Center.

During the festival, there were a total of 11 screenings of feature films. Among those presented were “Mongolia” by director Amarsaikhan.B, “Remember Me” by director Gan-Ochir.E, “Lost Days” by director  Garamkhand.B, and “Women” by director Otgonzorig.B.

The directors who participated in the “MONGOLIA FILM FESTIVAL” event also had a meeting and interview with the audience, and were warmly received by the public.

From the reviews of the audience in Busan:

“Lost Days” is a work that deals with the problems of family, teenagers, divorce, and pets, and the audience appreciated it for its enlightening presentation of issues that are becoming a problem in Korea as well Mongolia.

At the end of the film “Mongol”, the hall was filled with applause and a warm atmosphere. One viewer said to the director Amarsaikhan.B, “Your movie is a movie worthing of winning an Oscar.” “I want you to never stop presenting this heritage, culture and history of Mongolia’s beautiful landscape, nature, and nomadic people to the world”.

The young director Gan-Ochir.E’s “Remember Me” was presented as the closing film of the Mongolian Film Day Festival, and the Busan city audience talked about how Korea went through economic and societal changes in the 1960s and 1970s that were very similar to those shown in the film.

We would like to express our deep gratitude to the Consulate of Mongolia in Busan, South Korea, the Hannarae Cultural Foundation, and the Busan Film Center for organizing the “MONGOLIA FILM FESTIVAL” event.
