The Mongolian Film Institute is a non-governmental organization that promotes quality cinema in Mongolia. We try to help foster the curiosity and literacy of a new generation of Mongolian moviegoers who crave an alternative cinematic experience to what mainstream movies have to offer. With our flagship activity, the Golden Ger International Film Festival, we try to directly develop, educate and challenge young Mongolian filmmakers, as well as aim for audience development.
The Mongolian Film Institute was founded by Mongolian film industry professionals including Jigjidsuren Gombojav – a legendary filmmaker in Mongolian cinema and People’s Artist of Mongolia – and Ikhbayar Urchuud, the founder of the Golden Ger International Film Festival.
