TWO FILMS BY MONGOLIA HAVE BEEN SELECTED TO COMPETE AT 28TH
‘BUSAN INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL’
28th ‘Busan International Film Festival’ /BIFF/ officially announces the news today on September 5th.
An A-level, the largest and most celebrated film festival in Asia, Busan International Film Festival will be held from October 4 to 13, 2023.
The Festival screens about 329 films from 79 countries in order to nominate them into 14 competition categories. ‘If Only I Could Hibernate’, director Purevdash Zoljargal’s debut film, and film director Lkhagvadulam Purev-Ochir’s feature film ‘City of Wind’ have been selected for ‘A WINDOW ON ASIAN CINEMA’ section. 30 films have been selected from 16 countries in the section.
Film director Lkhagvadulam Purev-Ochir’s feature film ‘City of Wind’ have launched at global market besides qualifying to compete at ‘Orizzonti’ (Horizons) section of the 80th annual Venice International Film Festival which was held from 30 August, to 9 September 2023. Produced by Aurora Films of French Republic, co-produced by Guru Media, the joint film ‘City of Wind’ was initially approved for the first selection of Mongolian Film Fund in 2022 to become one of 11 film projects permitted for certain amount of financial support.
At the same time, director Zoljargal Purevdash’s debut film ‘If only I could hibernate’ was launched to be officially selected to compete at the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes 2023 Film Festival, which was held in May 2023. To some extent, Mongolian National Film Council supported the two films for being able to participate in the international festival competition.
