“PROMOTING THE STATUS OF ARTISTS AND CULTURE PROFESSIONALS IN MONGOLIA” WORKSHOP HAS BEGUN

UNESCO, a specialized agency of the United Nations, was established in 1946 according to the approved rules in November 1945, to develop with the aim to promoting world peace and security through international cooperation in education, arts, sciences and culture. UNESCO provides professional assistance in the selection of cultural and artistic projects of governments and public organizations of many countries around the world and provides funding of up to 30,000 US dollars for project logistics (organization of meetings, workshops, preparation of related materials, etc.)

The Mongolian National Film Council, under the Ministry of Culture of Mongolia, with the support of UNESCO Multisectoral Regional Office for East Asia, the first day of the “Promoting The Status of Artists and culture professionals in Mongolia” workshop was successfully organized on the 11th of April.

 

On this day, organized under the theme “Global concept and International experiences”, so Mrs.Hiroko Tsuboi-Friedman, Expert of 2005 Convention, Member of UNESCO presented “Introduction to the 2005 Convention, 1980 Recommendation and Aschberg program”. Also, Mr.Bodibaatar Jigjidsuren, Art Historian, Cultural Manager and Independent Cultural Policy Consultand and Arts Manager, presented “Transnational film policies and the artist in a globalized cultural economy”.

This workshop is aimed at disseminating knowledge and capacity building within the framework of the UNESCO-Ashberg Program for artists and cultural professionals, the basic concepts and principles contained in the 1980 Recommendation on the Status of Artists and the 2005 Convention for the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions

In addition, this workshop aims to meet current cultural standards and practical applications, and aims to empower stakeholders and artists with the necessary information to promote the status of cultural and artistic experts. This workshop attended by specielists  Ministry of Culture of Mongolia including Ichinkhorloo.G Specialist of Art Policy Implementation Regulatory Department of Ministry of Culture, members and chairperson of Mongolian National Film Council, members and chairperson of Arts Council of Mongolia, and artists, art experts.

Also, during workshop, exchange opinions, discussed about promoting the status of artists and culture professionals, and cultural policy, succesful measures to promote artistic freedom between, government officials, cultural expers, and  CSO leaders.

Incidentally, the funding is provided by apart from Mongolia, Argentina, Cote d’Ivoire, Chile, Djibouti, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, Niger, Senegal, Zimbabwe, and CECC/SICA member countries – Costa Rica, Belize, Dominican Republic, and El Salvador. This funding was selected to provide technical assistance to the governments of countries in the development of laws, regulations and policies aimed at the freedom of artistic expression, creation, and support for artists and cultural workers.
