Filming permit
ApplyForeign producers and legal entities filming in Mongolia must submit an application to the Council through its website.
Applications must be submitted at least 14 days before the start of filming and include the following documents:
Completed application form;
Certificate of liability insurance;
Receipt showing payment of fees required by the Law on State Stamp Duty (MNT 300,000 for filming short films and other visual content; MNT 500,000 for shooting a full-length documentary or feature film);
Film synopsis;
Details of the cast and crew, and copies of their passports;
Information on the proposed film location and time schedule;
List of filmmaking equipment to be temporarily imported to Mongolia;
Information on any adverse environmental impacts likely to be caused by filming;
Copy of agreement concluded with a Mongolian filmmaking partner;
Other documents may be required in other circumstances including if the film is based on real-life and/or depicts a real person, or if it involves the use of animals, explosives, firearms, ammunition, vehicles, or special effects.
The Council will review the application form and attached documents in 10 days. During the review process, it may request additional documentation and clarification from the relevant authorities, if necessary. If additional documents and clarifications are received, the timeframe for reviewing and resolving the application may be recalculated.
On approval, the Council will issue a film permit, and issued the permit will last for the duration of filming specified in the application.
