During his visit to Mongolia from July 8th to 12th, 2023, Mr. Park Ki Yong, Chairperson of the Korean Film Council of The Republic of Korea (KOFIC), had the opportunity to familiarize himself with the responsibilities of the Mongolian National Film Council and experience the country’s vibrant culture and art, while receiving a warm and hospitable welcome.
Mr. Park Ki Yong, Chairperson of KOFIC has visited Mongolia during July 8-12,2023 aimed at getting acquainted with duties of the Mongolian National Film Council and participating Mongolian Economic Forum-2023.
The KOFIC and Mongolian National Film Council signed a Memorandum of Cooperation during the 76th Cannes International Film Festival. The memorandum outlined various areas of collaboration, including the enhancement of joint film projects, the distribution of films from Mongolia and South Korea, and training of film crews and specialists.
Mr. Park Ki Yong was greeted by Mongolian delegation led by the Chairperson Undral CH (Mongolian National Film Council), Head Nomin-Erdene G (International Cooperation Department of the Mongolian National Film Council), and Ms. Nomuunzul T, a board member of the National Film Council with a warm hostile and provided opportunity to witness Mongolia’s heritage and rich culture during the National Naadam Festival, while also engaging in discussions and fulfilling his duties with the Mongolian National Film Council. As part of the visit, Mr. Park Ki Yong participated as a panelist in the ‘New Opportunities and Tourism’ discussion of the ‘Mongolian Economic Forum 2023. The discussion focused on strengthening tourism sector, seeking new opportunities and encourage new investments.
The main objective was to improve the tourism industry by attracting foreign investment, introducing cross-border tourism, and promoting Mongolia as an attractive tourist destination with its unique cultural offerings.
During his stay, Chairperson Park Ki Yong, Chairperson Undral Ch, Head Nomin-Erdene G, and board member Nomuunzul T visited B Production, where they were introduced to the functions of the three studios of ‘440HZ Records,’ which are equipped with cutting-edge technology and meet international standards.
In these meetings, Mr. Park Ki Yong emphasized that ‘Cinema not only plays a vital role in growing Mongolia’s tourism industry but allowing more foreign entities to film in the territory of Mongolia will have a great impact on promoting the country and its vibrant culture whilst attracting tourists, and on promoting economic growth and development.’
