The Mongolian National Film Council under The Ministry of Culture, Sport, Tourism and Youth of Mongolia in collaboration with the DNC Dankook University New Cinema Institute of South Korea successfully organized a practice-based “Casual Cinema Workshop 2024 in Mongolia”.
22 participants of the workshop were divided into 4 teams and in 48 hours, they created a 20-minute short film according to the casual cinema techniques of the filmmaking process.
Instructors:
From the Graduate School of Cinema, Dankook University (DGC)
and Dankook University New Cinema Institute (DNC):

• Park Kiyong: Filmmaker, Head Professor of DGC / Head, DNC
• Kim Woojae: Filmmaker, Visiting Professor of DGC / Deputy Head, DNC
• Im Taekyu: Filmmaker, Lecturer of DGC / Research Fellow, DNC
• Hur Jang: Filmmaker, Research Fellow of DNC

On August 31, the participants presented their short films made in 6 days, shared their opinions and received certificates.
There are many stereotypes about filmmaking, the most common being that a film must require a large production budget, an extensive workforce, and sophisticated equipment. However, the more we adhere to these stereotypes, the more disconnected we become from true cinematic inspiration. We must break away from these conventions and find creative ways to freely tell small, personal stories through Casual Cinema.

We appreciate the National Library of Mongolia team for their cooperation.
