The center of Sukhbaatar Province is Baruun-Urt City. It is located 556 kilometers from Ulaanbaatar, 981 meters above sea level, and covers an area of 82,287 km2. The province is a continuation of the southern part of the Eastern Mongolian Plain and is part of the steppe zone. Most of the province is located at an altitude of 1,000-1,200 meters above sea level. The majority of the province’s population are Khalkh and Dariganga Mongols,with a small percentage made up of Uzemchin, Barga, Khuuchid, Uuld, and Tsahar.
