Khovd Province’s center is Khovd City. It is located 1,425 kilometers from Ulaanbaatar at an altitude of 1,406 meters above sea level, and occupies an area of 70 km2 in the Buyant river valley. The population consists of Khalkh, Zakhchin, Kazakh, Torguud, Uriankhai, Uuld, Durvud, Myangad and other ethnic groups.
