It is one of the largest film festivals in East Asia. Since its beginning, Shanghai International Film Festival has grown to become China’s only A-category international film festival. SIFF is organized by Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture, Radio, Film & TV and Shanghai Media & Entertainment Group.

It has established itself as one of the most important cinema festivals in the world. It has hosted several important events of the history of cinema, such as the international premiers of Vertigo, by Alfred Hitchcock and the European premier of Star Wars. Although the festival was originally intended to honour Spanish language films, films of other languages became eligible for consideration in the late 1950s.

Over the past decades the popularity and influence of the Moscow International Film Festival on the world filmmaking process have grown significantly. During this years prizes were awarded to outstanding masters of world cinema – Akira Kurosawa and Stanley Kramer, Federico Fellini and Ettore Scola, Andrzej Wajda and Francesco Rosi, Krzysztof Zanussi and Damiano Damiani, Gleb Panfilov and Sergei Gerasimov, Bernard Blier and Alexandr Rogozhkin. MIFF has a lot to pride itself on. It paved the way for filmmakers who later became known throughout the world like István Szabó and Kaneto Shindo, Krzysztof Kieslowski and Aki Kaurismäki, Kohei Oguri and Humberto Solás. 

The goal of the Montreal World Film Festival (Montreal International Film Festival) is to encourage cultural diversity and understanding among nations, to foster the cinema of all continents by stimulating the development of quality cinema, to promote filmmakers and innovative works, to discover and encourage new talents, and to promote meetings between cinema professionals from around the world.

Mar del Plata International Film Festival was created out of the need to reflect the universe of Argentine and international cinema. As years went by, the Festival established itself as a prominent sample of development and exchange of the cinematographic industry and audiovisual arts. Today, the Festival is a must for filmmakers, actors, producers, distributors and film lovers.

Locarno is a competitive film festival. It aims to promote filmmaking of artistic merit, to provide a showcase for major new films of the year from around the world, and to show new perspectives of filmmaking expression, concentrating particularly on new filmmakers.

The Bengaluru International Film Festival, is an annual film festival held in Bengaluru, the capital of the Indian state of Karnataka, which previews films of all genres including documentaries from around the world.

Around 350 films are shown every year as part of the Berlinale’s public programme, the vast majority of which are world or European premieres. Films of every genre, length and format can be submitted for consideration. The Berlin International Film Festival sees itself as a showcase for what is happening in cinema. The European Film Market is also part of the festival.

Cairo International Film Festival is an annual festival organized by the Cairo International Film Festival Foundation and sponsored by public and private organizations in Egypt and around the world. The aim of the Festival is to improve the taste in movies, to strengthen artistic links between countries, to allow meetings between professionals and to build bridges between workers in the field of cinema from different cultures and thus to promote the film industry in Egypt, the Arab world, and other countries.
