LOCATION: KHUTAG-UNDUR DISTRICT, BULGAN PROVINCE

Uran Togoo is an extinct volcano located in Khutag-Undur District, Bulgan Province. It is located near the paved road running from Ulaanbaatar to Murun. Uran Togoo has an elevation of 1,686 meters above sea level, is 500-600 meters wide at the top, and between 50 and 60 meters deep. The extinct volcano’s crater contains a lake about 20 meters in diameter and 1.5 meters deep, which is surrounded by a forest. It is believed that Uran Togoo mountain last erupted between 20 and 25 thousand years ago. Uran Togoo was taken under special state protection in 1965. It is located 330 kilometers from Ulaanbaatar.
