LOCATION: ALDARKHAAN SOUM, ZAVKHAN PROVINCE, MONGOLIA

Otgontenger Mountain an it surrounding 95,510 hectares area of categorized under strictly protected area, the sacred name of the Mountain is Bogd Ochirvaan. Its summit is currently calculated to reach an elevation of 4,021 meters above sea level. The surrounding area consists of rugged mountains formed during Ice Age. The summit above the 2800 meters is covered with permanent snow. Just below the snow line area a sacred Badarhundaga Lake and a sculpture of Ochirvaani deity. Nearby, Otgontenger Mountain is the source of all significant rivers. The enviroment is harsh and humid, with cold and snowy weather during all four seasons.
