LOCATION: ALDARKHAAN DISTRICT, ZAVKHAN PROVINCE
NOTE: Yaruu monastery, formerly known as Dashpuntsaglin monastery, was built 17 kilometers west of Uliastai, the capital of Zavkhan Province. The monastery was founded in 1811 on the banks of the Yaruu river, close to the modern-day road to Donoi Airport. The monastery was founded by a Buddhist monk called Luvsandambadarjaa, who was regarded as the thirteenth incarnation of Yalguusan Khutagt. Yaruu monastery was home to 17 temples, 29 houses, 4 colleges, 540 regular monks and about 300 affiliated monks. The ruins of this site are located 776 kilometers from Ulaanbaatar.
