LOCATION: SEVREI DISTRICT, OMNOGOVI PROVINCE

The Khongor Great Sand Dune is located in the Gobi Gurvan Saikhan National Park. This site of natural beauty is 216 kilometers northwest of Dalanzadgad, the capital of Umnugovi Province, and 35 kilometers northeast of Sevrei’s district center. Khongor Great Sand Dune is the longest sand dune in Mongolia, extending more than 130 kilometers from northwest to southeast. It has an average width of 3-5 kilometers, but in some places this extends to more than 20 kilometers. The highest point, Khanan Els, is 195 meters above the ground. It is located 650 kilometers from Ulaanbaatar.
