LOCATION: URGUN DISTRICT, DORNOGOVI PROVINCE
Khamrin monastery is located 45 kilometers south of Sainshand, the capital of Dornogovi Province. Khamrin monastery was established in 1820 by Buddhist saint Danzanravjaa in Uvur Khamar. He considered the site of Khamrin Monastery to be high in energy, and identified it as the location of the sacred land of Shambhala. Next to the monastery is the Black Mountain of Desire, which has two uphill roads and two camps. In 2011, a five-sided Uvgun Stupa was built near Khamrin Monastery. It is located 449 kilometers from Ulaanbaatar.
