LOCATION: GOBI-UGTAAL AND GURVANSAIKHAN DISTRICTS, DUNDGOVI PROVINCE
Ikh Gazryn Chuluu mountain, located in Gobi-Ugtaal and Gurvansaikhan Districts of Dundgovi Province, forms the largest part of the Great Granite Zone in Mongolia. Located 80 kilometers southeast of Mandalgobi, Ikh Gazar Chuluu is about 30 kilometers long and 15 kilometers wide. It covers an area of about 600 km2. It consists of deep rocks such as granite, asmaljin, tolbojin, Permian, Cretaceous and Tertiary sandstone, coal shale, and limestone. It sits at an altitude of 1565-1709 meters above sea level. The land was taken under special state protection in 2003. It is located 478 kilometers from Ulaanbaatar.
