NatureGOBI GURVAN SAIKHAN

LOCATION: DALANZADGAD DISTRICT, OMNOGOVI PROVINCE

The Gurvan Saikhan mountain range consists of a series of continuous ridges, the highest of which is Zuun Saikhan Mountain at 2,846 meters above sea level. Within this range Sevrei mountain is 2,548 m high and the Soft Mountain Range [?] is 2,350 m high. Khongoryn Els, a sand dune which covers a large part of the Gobi Gurvan Saikhan National Park, is located in Sevrei and Bayandalai Districts of Umnugovi Province. This large dune, which stretches 180 kilometers from northwest to southeast, covers a total area of ​​965 square kilometers. It is widest in the northwest (27 kilometers across) and narrowest in its center (800 m). Mountain brown and Gobi brown soils predominate in this region, which is located 519 kilometers from Ulaanbaatar.
