LOCATION: DASHINCHILEN DISTRICT, BULGAN PROVINCE

Local people call the ruins of this ancient settlement Chin Tolgoi. Within this important historical site two large stone frogs sit at the base of an ancient obelisk, and fragments of roof tiles collected from the area show Khitan inscriptions (tenth to thirteenth century CE). Archaeological excavations in the vicinity of Chin Tolgoi have not been carried out in detail. But based on historical sources researchers believe that it was a town built by Khitan ruler Zhengzhou. It is located 199 kilometers from Ulaanbaatar.
