LOCATION: OMNEDELGER DISTRICT, KHENTII PROVINCE

NOTE Burkhan Khaldun in the Khentii mountains is the birthplace of Genghis Khan, and is also believed to be the location of his tomb. The back of this mountain is covered with trees. In 2015, at a meeting of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, Burkhan Khaldun mountain and its surrounding sacred sites were inscribed on the World Heritage List on the basis of their cultural importance. Burkhan Khaldun mountain is located 217 kilometers from Ulaanbaatar.
