LOCATION: TSENGEL DISTRICT, BAYAN-ULGII PROVINCE
These rock drawings are found on the northern shore of Khoton lake in Tsengel District, Bayan-Ulgii Province. Research by archeologists has revealed more than 7,000 paintings and images on more than 700 rocks on two nearby hills. In terms of imagery, ibex are the most represented. Also depicted are deer, argali, cattle and horses. The petroglyphs at this site date back to the Neolithic, Bronze Age, Early Iron Age and the Middle Ages.
